Early Bird Catches the Coolest Sunrises

Oh my, I have not gotten up this early on a Saturday here since my 2 weeks in F&B 6 months ago. Today we got up at 7.3o after getting to bed at 2am. But not because of partying, but for other reasons.

The last 24 hours have been very strange... First yesterday a normal day at work, then drinks with visiting friends after work. Then I was suppose to be invited for dinner at a friends house. That didn't really go as planned. Instead of dinner we decided to go buy a tacky birthday present for a friend that has his birthday today. There we got a bit sidestepped as he was arriving with a plane at midnight after some work interviews.

So to NOT fall asleep as we both were tired, we decided to go to IKEA as I needed a new wok. Said and done, into the car and drive 80 km to IKEA. We get there at 8.20 pm, in other words, enough time to have some dinner and buy a wok. Yah right... this is IKEA... instead we walk out with 5 bags each (yes, I got the wok) and dinner was no longer served.

At five to ten we realise we need a balloon for his birthday and run in summer clothes through a shopping mall. Up north it was really cold, so people were worrying for real that we were crazy. Anyway, we got a balloon just as they were closing, Mr Incredible... Ehum... next problem. How the hell do we fit Mr Incredible (one meter high helium balloon) into a small Citro?!?! Answer: between the legs... hehe...

At least I finally got some...

To make a short story long, this morning I had to go to the airport again to pick up a trainee as the others were going diving. Hence the early morning start... but now, it's not that good. Time for siesta!!! ZZZZzzzzzz

Training Rocks

I've been in Service Culture Training for the last 2 days and I have to say it really rocks. I love learning new things and better understand myself and others. What a great way to spend a day. Among other things, we determined our Social Styles. Nothing new there, it just confirmed what I sort of already knew, or at least clarified it further. I am so not an easy person to deal with... hehe... my way or the highway so to speak. Get a driver's license I say.

Another thing to be happy about is that tomorrow is Friday. Oh happy days. My favourite day of the working week. Which is of course followed by my all time favourite day - Saturday. This weekend will be smack packed with stuff: weekly pool tomorrow Friday, a friends birthday on Saturday, not to forget one of my fellow trainees is visiting the hotel for a week. Hopefully I'll get to spend some time with them also. And oh, my most preferred activity at the mo - Sunday walk along the ocean! Let's pray for calmer weather, we've had a storm for the last week.

Hope you also have a nice one. Over and out!

Calima, calima...

and sand in my eyes. Not because it matters as I'm trying to finalise my forever running project of the guest service directory. In my defence it was ready in November, however, with bureaucracy, misunderstandings and the usual I-have-to-have-my-say has somewhat delayed it. Like 5 months.

But hey, no worries, it'll all fall into place, I have hope. Started a new department today which I am very happy about. This time I will stay for 3 months, making it more stable and not so jumpy as before. For now, all is good... Except the 6.3o wake up tomorrow... Reminds me, off to bed I go! Nighty!

Red Back Mountain

Lovely weekend, sun is shining, there is a cooling wind and I am experiencing a suprisingly awake Sunday. Although going for Thai dinner and a few drinks, I still managed to be in bed before 2am, which is quite unusual here on the island. Therefore you can imagine my surprise when I woke up at 8 o'clock feeling super awake and full of energy. By 10 o'clock my whole house was cleaned, 2 machines of laundry done and 2 friends stomping in the hallway for breakfast!!!

But what I don't understand is that it now is 5 hours later and I haven't done much more. Well, Sunday is for relaxing as the old bible says. I think it is time to grill my poor red back some more, managed to squeeze in some sunbathing yesterday between airport runs and dinners. Now my head is fully focused on creating a suncream-applicator for the back. Why on earth hasn't anyone invented such a thing?! Nobel Prize for the winner. My Red Back Mountain would appreciate it.

April Fools Day

1st of April , always a day of petrified moments, where you cannot trust anyone, not even your mother. So here I´ve been sitting on needles all day, no that was actually not true, I´ve only had time to sit on my desk after 15.00hrs, but still.

No one tried to fool me and I´m the most gullible person on earth. So I had to ask, just to be sure and it turns out that here in Spain, they fool eachother on the 29th of Decembre. Save for another 9 months then. Pweh!

Another thing I have to say, biking up a hill like mine is not fun, especially when it is so hot that you can sit on your terrace in a bikini at 20hrs in the evening. It´s sweaty, but I am trying to see it as free spinning... Except that I´m not spinning much, I´m more pulling, pushing, dragging, lirking, sliding, heaving and sweating myself AND the bike AND my bag up the hill. With the sun scorching my neck. Hopefully it will help in the end! Buns of steal, here I come!

Sunny weekend and longer evenings

Does it get any better than that!? No siree... Had a lovely weekend in fact, after the initial bad start with overcast, the sky cleared up and I think it was the sunniest and warmest weekend in a very long time. At least for me.

We also dared to go for a short swim in the ocean, I'd say it's about 20 degrees or so. Not supercomfy, but with a hot sun and a sore head, it was very refreshing.

I also love the fact that we are now on SUMMER TIME!!!! This leaves an extra hour of sunshine after work and I'm gonna make my best to utilise it fully. Now we're talking! Happy working week to all, may next weekend come just as fast!

Waiting for sun

Of course, since it's the weekend and we are off, the weather is not the best. We had planned to go down to the beach and be there all day today, so I was up at eight in the morning. To my disappointment, it was of course overcast and I spend the day watching "So you think you can dance - Scandinavia" instead. But now finally, it seems like the sun is breaking through. And it's only 13.30, so still time to top up the "tan"...

Oh happy days!
